"I would like to offer my deepest thanks to the United States Achievement Academy. The Dr. George A. Stevens Founder’s Award will provide me with tremendous financial support as I pursue a world-class education at Stanford University.

I am studying chemical engineering at Stanford to obtain the skills needed to become a researcher answering today’s central questions in energy and medical technology. After college, I hope to work on the interface between microbiology, biochemistry, and organic synthesis. By combining the strengths of these fields, I hope to help formulate a sustainable solution for the increasing demand of the 21st century energy economy. In the medical field, I would like to combine synthetic and biological tools to combat drug-resistant microorganisms through more effective, targeted treatments. Finally, I hope to apply this research with a global outlook in order to improve the worldwide standard of living."
